Mummy the Curse is a 1st edition New World of Darkness game, so it would need to use that book. Apparently there are plans to make a 2nd edition of Mummy, but I don't know when it would be done. This is small but it has been really bothering me. It says Dutch, where it should say Danish. If I want to run Hunter do I need this or can I pick up a copy of the older version without all the God complex crap? It depends on what you are looking for: plain hunters or "Hunter: the Vigil" hunters.
This way it's just 1 book, but bear in mind that [CofD] includes a lot more than just The God-Machine Chronicles, and adds a lot of tools that improve storytelling and roleplaying, such as condition cards and tilts. It also adds rules for investigation and clues, social maneuvering, new rules for combat, and a framework for designing investigation chronicles Called "Missing Persons". See more be a little bit of overkill. I finally have a group that wants to play.
I want to run the game with the most updated ruleset. Do I needed [MR]? Really good book. Unfortunately the god machine stuff itself is all tepid recycled matrix-esque nonsense, but largely it's a very solid system with a big rules improvement over the original.
Shame old World of Darkness fans bullied them into changing the name though, Chronicles of Darkness is a lot less evocative and has clearly created a lot of confusion. Will this be compatible with my old printed nWod source books? Isaac H. Yes to all. Some, you might want another book. Or is there additional material in the latter? No, you don't have to purchase "The God-Machine Chronicles", it's included in this book. I believe that the only change is regarding the included fiction, but that is published in "The God-Machine Chronicles Antology" book.
So now I need this too? Just wondering. We started playing again. Any of the side game lines mage, werewolf, Changeling, vampire, etc.
I don't understand which world of darkness core book I'm supposed to use with vampire and werewolf 20th anniversary? Really this is the biggest marketing problem I think they made with this version. They really should have gone the dnd route and labelled them all as expressly version 2 or whatever.
Also its weird that its not on amazon. It's a different system and different setting. For those games you won't need this book. I haven't played Vampire 20 or Werewolf 20, but as far as I know all the base rules are included in their own books, and there is no "base rules book".
For V20 or W20 or M20 you just use those as is, they have all the rules in them, and they use the older Storyteller system, and they are set in the original "Old" World of Darkness setting which officially ended in an apocalypse there was a chronicle for it, published in a book, that mixed W, M, and V and a few other OWoD games in it. Recently purchased a hardback copy of this.
I've enjoyed flipping through it, and I think the Horror creation section is a great addition, something missing from the game series that the Antagonist book certainly could've used while the creatures presented in that book, like the Aswang or Beast of Bethlehem, are great, a helpful guide to create your own monster is a great way to keep things interesting!
I have a slew of World of Darkness books I've amassed over the time. I'm wondering: just how many of the stats and numbers from these books match up well with the new Chronicles?
I know each of the splats Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, etc is getting a revision, can we expect the same for the "blue books"? I'm sure Second Sight's clunky collection of psychic abilities has been replaced by the Supernatural Merits offered in CoD, but what about books like Changing Breeds?
Will the slew of werecreatures presented in those pages get an update? Is one even required? Can Changing Breed Merits, Aspects, See more and creature stats flow with the new system as-is? I believe all the old Darkness- books each featured a city setting I've only got the Philadelphia one. Could someone list what city goes with what book?
See more Janeiro. World of Darkness: Chicago is a crossover of the forst 3 games. Demon have a Seattle supplement expanding the info of the corebook. Dan is the Man! Biggest thanx! I bought the Dark Eras one but it's a thinner version, not thick ones like we had previously. Hello guys!! I just bought Werewolf Forsaken second edition!!
Like that book I want to buy this one also the premium heavyweight But the paper Thank for the answer All the premium heavyweight books use the same paper and print method. Sadly, for all that Print on Demand technology has improved immensely, it's still not quite the equal to a good offset print run like the original NWoD books. Thank you Michael for the answer! Yea I was waiting for other quality, but it still ok!
Thank you. I have a standard heavyweight copy of Exalted 3. It's perfectly usable, and still quite nice, but the colour is a bit washed out and unsaturated compared to the premium books I have. The CofD book is so dark, full of blacks and dark blues, so it would probably come out more grey and flat, and some of the detail in the very dark illustrations might be a little harder to make out.
But the text should be just as readable, when on a light background. Michael, Thank you very much for your kind answer. That told me if I should keep buying the premium or normal books. Have a nice day!! Maximilian S. For some of my players, it wasn't thier cup of tea. I liked the fact, that when you read it, you feel like it's WoD, and then on the next page it totally doesn't. The God-Machine is a nice idea, and you can have a lot of fun with it, you [ Edward C.
I've been playing WoD games since early s, been a Storyteller myself since I love all White Wolf games; that's why I was sad back when I found out about the "new" company taking over my beloved series.
Little did I know th [ Erlan P. Is easy to understand but at the same time give you a lot of options to create horror beings and difficult situations. Is more about making your own horrfying story than [ Joshua W. Excellent book for an excellent game system. This is the second edition of "New" World of Darkness, now called Chronicles of Darkness it also has the God-Machine aspect of the game added in.
